Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nations, Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation, and President of both General Women's Union and Motherhood and Childhood Supreme Council, the new Abu Dhabi Women’s Club headquarters was inaugurated by Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Fatima Bint Mubarak Sports Academy (FBMA) and President of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Ladies Club, said the new state of the art facility will not only encourage Emirati women to pursue sports but also provide opportunities for them to excel in their chosen sporting disciplines.
“We are proud to inaugurate this facility and the headquarters to serve the Emirati women,” said Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza after inaugurating the new state of-the-art facility on Tuesday.
“It wouldn’t have been possible to provide such facilities without the generous support of the wise leadership and the Mother of the Nation Sheikha Fatima and His Highness the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”
She stated the highest priority for success is the belief in the true partnership between men and women in society, which cherishes the care and attention embodied by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
“The Club is not restricted to only sports but extends to culture, art and public health, and recreation and entertainment for children,” added Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza.
“A year ago we witnessed the opening of the Al Ain Women's Club. Today, we are moving forward with the opening of a new facility aimed in providing happiness and success for women in our society.
“We want to work towards excellence and creativity in line with our plans and programs that emphasise the importance of sports and make it a healthy and ideal lifestyle.
“The opening also coincides with the Year of Zayed, our founding father of the nation, may God have mercy on him, who believed in the role of the Emirati women and gave them the confidence, support and empowerment to reach the highest degree of excellence in various disciplines.”
Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza congratulated the ladies and girls on the occasion of the club’s opening. She thanked all those who participated in the opening of the sports site which represents an important addition to the development of the country.
The official opening ceremony commenced with a welcoming speech from the ceremony's presenter Asmahan Al Naqbi, followed by Risa Al Ketbi, Chief Executive Officer of FBMA for Women's Sports.
HE Dr Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, delivered the opening speech.
Present at the occasions were Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Director General Women's Union, Dr Rawda Al Saadi, Director General of Smart Systems and Services, Mariam Al Rumaithi, Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Major Mariam Al Mansouri, the first Emirati pilot.
