The Abu Dhabi Sailing & Yacht Club was inundated with entries for the second Dalma Sailing Festival’s Dh25million 60-foot traditional sailing boat race from October 25 to 29.

The entries have been flooding in after the announcement that the top 100 boats to finish the 80 nautical mile race will receive a share of the record prize fund.

Majid Ateeq Al Muhairi, Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club and a member of the Organizing Committee of the Festival, said entries for the main 600-foot boats close on October 17.

“Sailors above 14 years of age can participate,” added Al Muhairi. “The whole idea if to get everyone from the youth to the experienced sailors to get involved.”

“The club which organises the festival have completed all the arrangements, including the side events for the entire families and visitors to enjoy over four days.

“Electronic tracking devices will be fitted to the boats and the technical committee will monitor the boats. The technical meeting will be held prior to the race.”
