Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) in corporation with Health Point organised a two-day course on the ‘use of medical labelling’ for specialists in physiotherapy from Abu Dhabi Clubs and Zayed Military Hospital over the weekend.

Dr Marat Dalkelnick, a physiotherapist and certified practitioner of musculoskeletal injuries and therapeutic rehabilitation, explained the use of medical adhesive tapes as a new type of sports medicine and rehabilitation, which is used to reduce muscle pain and help relax.

“The movement is normal, with the tapes flexible enough to allow athletes and others to move freely, as well as multiple uses of stickers throughout the body,” he said.

“Tapes can be used on all parts of the body from the head to the soles of the feet. They can be used before and after surgical procedures, in tensile and torn positions, in sports injuries and in osteoporosis, in arthritis, in the condition of the body and in many other treatments.”

Dr Dalkelnick emphasised there are many medical benefits from the treatment.

“Out of this, the most important is the alleviation of the pain from injuries, improve blood circulation, relieve pain, promote muscle work, alert the muscular nervous system, reduce inflammation and haemorrhagic, improve motor range, Deep sensory, improve fibrous muscle tissue, and support joints.”

The sessions were attended by Dr Hashil Al Tanaiji from Zayed Military Hospital and Dr Khalid Al Daghman from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
