Lightning Bolt ridden by Jean-Baptiste Hamel for trainer Karin van den Bos clinched His Highness The President of the UAE Cup for Purebred Arabians at the Duindigt racecourse in the Netherlands on Sunday.
The six-year-old chestnut son of Munjiz in the silks of Landgoed Waterland finished a neck in front of Aoun under Roberto Montenegro. Gon Ikaria under Anna Van den Troost atop finished third in the race for a purse of £30,000 and run over 2,150 metres.

The races at the Haag under the patronage of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in association with His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and coordinated by the UAE embassy in the Netherlands was well-attended with the presence of the diplomatic missions in the country.
The race series for the Purebred Arabians coincides with the Year of Zayed, the founding father of the UAE who has been a strong supporter of the breeding of the Arabian horses around the world.
The race series are held under supervision of the Organizing Committee of the racing series under the chairmanship of HE Mattar Suhail Al Yabhouni, member of both the Federal National Council and the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, and HE Faisal Al Rahmani, Advisor to the ADSC and general supervisor of horseracing.
The prizes were jointly presented to the winning connections by HE Saeed Ali Al Nuwais, the UAE ambassador to the Netherlands, HE Abdulaziz Abdulla Abu Hamed, ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and HE Abdul Wahab Baloga.
