Anzor Alberdiyev rode Avonmouth to an emphatic victory in the sixth leg of the President of the UAE Cup for Purebred Arabians held for the first time in the Russian capital Moscow on Sunday.

The five-year-old chestnut son of Cambrydge trained by Amirbek Derov for owner Eduardo Mordukhovic went clear from the 800-metre mark to win the €50,000 Group 1 contest by two lengths from Panzer Faust under Myrzabek Kappushev.

Arakan ridden by Shamil Hatkov was third in the 13-runner race run over the 1,800m distance.

The event was well attended with the ambassadors of both Kuwait and Bahrain HE Abdulaziz Al Adwani and Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Sahati, respectively, present at the occasion and participating in the awards ceremony.

HE Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni, member of both the Federal National Council and the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said the event was not only to promote the Arabian horse but to spread the message and improve the diplomatic ties between the countries.

HE Faisal Al Rahmani, advisor to the ADSC on the horse racing, HE Ali Al Hosani, Deputy Head of UAE Delegation, HE Al Adwani and HE Al Sahati, presented to the winning connections.

“It’s an important event and ground breaking race in Moscow,” said HE Al Rahmani. “The race received its due recognition and the crowd was amazing.”
