Thursday, February 16, 2017 will mark second edition of the UAE National Sports Day. Activities and festivities of the Day will be held under the theme “UAE Unites Us”. The Day is held in coincidence with GCC National Sports Day.
In Abu Dhabi emirate- Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain City and the Western Region, the Day will start by a procession to be led by HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The 2km & 5km walk will be at Zayed Sports City, and will start from in front of IPIC Arena.
Activities of the National Sports Day will be held under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Sports Council and in coordination with the UAE National Olympic Committee, and is supported by the National Health Insurance Company– Daman’s health and fitness initiative, ActiveLife.
All sports clubs in Abu Dhabi, all segments of the community will actively participate in the National Sports Day as various activities will be held. Activities will be suitable for all age categories, with kids-oriented sports in the period from 10 in the morning up to 3 afternoon, and from 4 to 10 evening for adults.
The actions will include group workout sessions- fitness classes, ladies fitness classes, crossfit, bowling, billiards and table tennis, tennis, football, basketball and volleyball.
The family-friendly event will also feature fun activities for kids including jumping castles and a giant inflatable obstacle course.
His Excellency Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council said: “Firstly of all, I would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to our wise leaders for their continuous and limitless support to all initiatives that aim to strengthen our national identity and to enhance our social cohesion.”
