After a successful conclusion of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018 and the Year of Zayed, the Emirates are all set to welcome the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 and the Year of Tolerance.

His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), lauded the country’s leadership for the vision to showcase the UAE as a venue for global sports, and FIFA and the Local Organising Committee for the organisational acumen of the event.

HH Sheikh Nahyan affirmed his support to The President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

“They have led our beloved country to the highest level of success and achievements in all of our plans to stage world class sporting events year after year,” said HH Sheikh Nahyan.

“We are proud of the achievement of our team, Al Ain, in the FIFA Club World Cup, which we hosted for the fourth time.  They made us proud with their outstanding performance on the world stage.

“We congratulate Real Madrid for winning the Club World Cup for a record fourth time.”

Al Ain stunned the football world by defeating the Oceania champions Team Wellington, African champions Esperance de Tunis and the South American champions River Plate enroute to a final showdown with tournament favourites Real Madrid.

HH Sheikh Nahyan said the UAE, particularly Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, welcomed the football fraternity from around the world during the 10-day Club World Cup, and endorsed the country for peace and tolerance.

“We bid farewell to the Year of Zayed and the Club World Cup 2018 and welcome the Asian Cup UAE 2019 and the Year of Tolerance,” he said.

HH Sheikh Nahyan praised the FIFA and the LOC headed by Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi and members of the committee, and the volunteers for their overwhelming support throughout the tournament.
