The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) embark on their first community event for the new season at the Yas Mall and Ferrari World on Friday.
The event is the popular community race run over three distances – 2.5km, 5km and 10km runs – starting at 8.15am.
Saeed Al Muhairi, Director of the Department of Technical Affairs at ADSC, said the indoor run has gained in popularity and had drawn more than 750 participants last May.
“It’s a hugely popular event and we expect a large number of runners for this opening race of the season,” he said.
“We at the ADSC are leaving no stones unturned to promote community sports at every level for everyone to benefit as well as continue our efforts to create an awareness on the benefits of sports.
“These sporting events also bring the community together and an idea set-up for networking. There is a lot to gain for everyone and this is also our objective to create a healthy lifestyle in our society.”
Al Muhairi thanked the sponsors and supporters of the community event, which include the Department of Health, Urban Planning and Municipalities Department, Al Ain Water, National Ambulance, Gulf Multi Sport, Yas Mall and Ferrari World.
