The 2023 Spartan World Championship kicks off tomorrow in Al Wathba
The 2023 Spartan World Championship, hosted and organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in cooperation with Spartan - the world's most prominent brand in the field of endurance and obstacle sports - will begin tomorrow, 8 December, in Al Wathba, specifically near the Al Wathba Desert Resort, where thousands of elite athletes are preparing. Additionally, amateur athletes of various physical abilities will be able to participate in a range of races tailored for them.
The event includes 3 days full of high-level races, where participants test their muscular abilities in a real challenge of strength, endurance and speed. Participants in the tournament also receive free entry to the Sheikh Zayed Festival, where the horizons of culture expand, its paths diversify, and people converge and unite under a framework of love, brotherhood and peace.
The championship will open its doors on Friday, 8 December, to receive participants starting at 12PM, and the first 3K Races will be held at 2:30PM, while the inaugural 5k Night Race will be held at 5:30PM. These two races were added to this year’s championship’s competition agenda.
The next day, 9 December, includes a schedule full of races, such as the Elite 21K World Championship, which starts at 7:30AM, followed by the Age Group 21K World Championship, the Open Beast (21km; 30 obstacles) and Kids Competitive & Open (½ Mile – 2 Mile; 5-20 obstacles) challenges. At 5:00PM, a showcase of the participating countries will be presented before the challenge winners are crowned at the Sheikh Zayed Festival.
The third edition of the Abu Dhabi Spartan World Championship will conclude on 10 December with another schedule full of races, which includes the Elite 3K Team Relay World Championship, Open Super (10km; 25 obstacles), Open Sprint (5km; 20 obstacles) and Kids Open (½ Mile – 2 Mile; 5-20 obstacles
