HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of both Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and Local Organizing Committee of the Asian Cup 2019, is confident they can present the most memorable Asian Cup in the history of the continental championship.
“As a leading venue for a variety of international sporting events, the UAE will be ready to put up an Asian Cup that will be remembered as one of the best, if not the best ever,” Sheikh Nahyan revealed at a meeting he chaired at the ADSC headquarters on Wednesday.
“I wish to thank the country’s leadership and for their role which has made the UAE as one of the leading nations to host multiple world class sporting events.”
Sheikh Nahyan reiterated the role of the LOC under the leadership of Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi to ensure the ongoing work at the venues and preparations were progressing well and on schedule.
“The refurbishing work at the stadiums and every aspect on the preparation front for the Asian Cup are reviewed and updated every week,” said Sheikh Nahyan.
“We are confident we’ll have everything in place well before the scheduled dates and to the satisfactions of the AFC representatives and participating nations.
“We definitely haven’t forgotten the traveling fans. We are sure all those who travel to support their teams will return with memories they will not forget for a long time.”
The meeting was attended by HE Saeed Hareb, Chairman of Dubai Group, HE Hamad bin Nukhirat Al Ameri, Chairman of Al Ain Group, HE Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Director of Sharjah Group, and HE Aref Hamad Al Awani, Director of the Executive Office.
Also present were Brig. Gen. Rashid Suhail Al Ali, the representative of the security committee, HE Mohammed Abdullah bin Hazzam Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Football Federation and members of the Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain groups.
