Thousands of football fans will have the opportunity to be part of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 thanks to the support of businesses that are signing up to become patrons for the biggest sporting event ever held in the region.
Launching this week at the Diplomat’s Club in Dubai, the Patron’s Progamme saw a team of businesses pledge their support to work closely within their communities, donating tickets for a number of matches throughout the AFC Asian Cup, which kicks off in less than two months on January 5,2019.
Speaking on the launch of the Patrons Programme, Tournament Director for the Local Organising Committee, His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani commented:
“The Patrons Programme allows businesses to add extra incentives to their great ongoing community work, rewarding individuals or community groups with tickets to games during the tournament.
As the UAE is home to many diverse cultures and communities, we want everybody to feel a part of the tournament. The Patrons Programme is just another example of how business and the community work side by side to support each other in the UAE”.
Businessman Harmeek Singh, who has resided in the UAE for 15 years, pledged his support to the campaign adding:
“The UAE being my home and for many other nationalities for a long period shows the diversity in the society. Having my loyalties towards India & UAE alike gives me the responsibility to support The AFC Asian Cup on the level of getting success for the tournament and supporting the Indian team to do well. The opportunity to bring smiles to the blue-collar fraternity by giving them a chance to be part of the campaign and watch the matches is ideal and a true representation of UAE as a whole. “
Businesses of any size can sign up to become Patrons of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, with the only requirement being the promise of supporting communities by donating tickets to matches.
Patrons taking part in the initiative will also have opportunities to be part of key moments during the tournament in return for their support, which will allow more individuals and communities to watch live football throughout the tournament.
A number of community engagement progammes have already enjoyed success throughout the UAE with over 70,000 school children taking part in the country’s biggest ever Schools Programme, whilst 5,000 volunteers have been recruited to play significant roles throughout the four-weeks of football.
