Khalil Al Saidi and Sarah Kelly stole the spotlight in the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s Al Ain Zoo Run at the weekend.
Al Saidi of Oman won the men’s 10-kilometre race quite comfortably in a time of 40:49 minutes from Britain’s Lee Ruscoe (42:47) and Robert Ludling (43:56).
In the women’s race, Ireland’s Kelly (44:26) crossed the finishing line more three minutes ahead of Slovakian Gordana Golovic (47:42) and South African Christelle Vermeulen (49:38).
Moroccan Adel El Hanafy claimed the 5km run from Uganda’s Gilbert Mwiine and Emirati Faisal Saeed.
Alexia Darfeuille of France took the women’s race from Britain’s Katie Manawalala and Canadian Aishling Sugrue.
The Zoo Run stage in cooperation with the Federation of Arab Universities drew 789 runners across three different race distances of 10km, 5km and 2.5km.
Participants in the races in Zoo Run received promotional ADNOC Marathon tee shirts and caps as well as register online for the December 6 events.
Khalid Al Quays, Head of Community Sports and Technical Affairs Department at ADSC, presented medals to all participants.
