Daman partners with Abu Dhabi Cycling Club to further community sports

In the presence of His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the National Health Insurance Company – Daman and the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club have signed a strategic partnership to support sport and fitness events which encourage community health and wellbeing.

Under the terms of the partnership, which was signed between Hamad Al Mehyas, Chief Executive Officer of Daman, and Alnekhaira Al Khayeli, Chief Executive Officer of the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, Daman will support and sponsor cycling events and races open to the public. Daman and the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club have held an historic relationship in collaborating on major sporting events for different communities, empowering individuals to use fitness and sport to lead healthy and happy lives.

Commenting on the partnership, His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “The partnership between these two leading Abu Dhabi entities is greatly welcomed. At the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, we are consistently enthused by organisations who encourage individuals to participate in sports and get active. In doing so, we raise overall public health in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

“Daman has been a long-standing champion of sport. The company consistently raises public awareness of the importance of staying active, increasing enjoyment of sports, alongside improving the overall health and wellbeing of the emirate. Through highlighting the importance of physical activity, Daman is helping Abu Dhabi Sports Council to shape a healthier community.”

Hamad Al Mehyas, CEO of the National Health Insurance Company – Daman, commented: “Daman has a longstanding belief in the importance of active engagement and physical health initiatives to help members of the community to adopt healthier habits in their day-to-day lives. Throughout our 15-year history, we have consistently supported public sport events as a wider enabler, and catalyst, for encouraging the adoption of physical activity and healthy lifestyles.”

Daman and Abu Dhabi Cycling Club have previously collaborated on a range of separate cycling events, including the Daman Cycle Challenge 120 in Al Wathba and the Falcon Daman Cycling Race Series.

Mr Alnekhaira Al Khyeli, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, said: “Daman provides our club with dependable and abiding support, allowing us to continue to organise high-quality sport and fitness events that benefit all those in Abu Dhabi who use cycling to stay fit. The support is set to further both the scale and the reach of our events and competitions.”

The third round of racing for the Falcon Daman Cycling Race Series will be on Hudayriat Island in Abu Dhabi on 5 April 2021.
