ADNOC and Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) continued their build-up for the second staging of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon with prep races over three different distances that drew more than 3,000 runners on Friday at Das Island.

All those who took part in the 10km, 5km and 2.5km will be heading for the December 6 event to participate in the races over the same distances that will run simultaneously with the marathon.

In attendance were HE Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State and CEO of ADNOC, HE Aref Al Awani, General Secretary General of ADSC and along with a number of distinguished guests.

Dr Jaber said: “We are looking forward to the second edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon after the impressive success of the first edition by hosting more than 10,000 participants.

“I take this opportunity to thank the brothers at the ADSC for their great efforts, as well as the organizers of the Das Island Run, and I would like to pay tribute to the athletic spirit of all participants in this outstanding sporting event.”

HE Al Awani added: “We are delighted to partner with ADNOC, which plays a major community role not only in Abu Dhabi but across the UAE.

“We are looking forward to increasing the number of participants in our second marathon.

“ADSC’s objective is to increase the level of interaction through all activities and via sports. We want to organize community races in everywhere around the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including the Das Island.”
