The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) community cycling race at Liwa Area on Friday, 3 November 2017 was a real success as more than 100 cyclists competed strongly in the event.
The race came within ADSC’s community sport events calendar for the 2017/18 season. This calendar is to encourage all community segments to engage in sport practicing in order to live healthily.
At the open race category, Davis Williams from Canada won the title in 1 hour, 35 minutes and 34 seconds, with Mohammed Subaih from UAE in second place, and Pedro Gomez from Spain coming third, with Jenny Tan in first position for the women’s category.
By the end of the race, ADSC Representative Khalid Al Qubaisi, and the Representative of the Al Dhafra Area Police presented the trophies to the top winners of each category.
ADSC’s community sport events will continue next week with a running race in Abu Dhabi, cycling races- one in Abu Dhabi this November , and the second at Al Wathba Cycling Track in January 2018.
Events will go back to Liwa with Tel Mureib cycling race on 12 January as more than 700 cyclists are expected to take part in this tough cycling challenge.
Then the turn will be for Al Ain City with Jebel Hafeet cycling race early February 2018, then another cycling race at Al Wathba track on 9 March, Yas cycling race on 30 March, and the final race of the season which is a night cycling race at Al Wathba track on 28 April 2018.
ADSC’s Representative- Khalid Al Qubaisi congratulated the top winners of the race, and thanked Al Dhafra Police for the great help and support they delivered to make this event that successful.
He also thanks all participants for taking part in this event, reiterating the importance and benefits of living actively through sport practicing and exercising.
