Fazza Al Khalediah came from last to first to clinch His Highness The President of the UAE Cup for Purebred Arabians at the San Siro racecourse in Milan, Italy, on Sunday.
The Listed race run over 2,000 metres marking and a prize fund of £50,000 drew 10 runners.
Fazza Al Khalediah trailed the field before coming around a wall of horses with a devastating run on the home stretch to win convincingly from Akoya II and Dynamite.
The World Race Series for the Arabians was commemorating the silver jubilee season and coincides with the Year of Zayed, the birth anniversary of the UAE’s Founding Father.
Saqer Nasser Al Reissi, the UAE ambassador to Italy and Faisal Al Rahmani, Advisor to the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), presented the prizes to the winning connections.
The Race Series are sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
The race-series are staged under the supervision of Mattar Suhail Al Yabhouni, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Race Series and HE Al Rahmani.
“The race was the fourth in the World Series and the racegoers witnessed an exciting contest for the Purebred Arabians,” said HE Al Reissi.
“We have an excellent and strong relationship with Italy and the reason to stage one of the races at San Siro.”
