Aoun and Deryan completed an excellent double for the Yas Horse Racing Management of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
Aoun scooped the 11th and penultimate leg of the President of the UAE Cup and the Deryan bagged Morocco’s Crown Prince’s Cup at the Al Bayda racecourse last Sunday.
Trained by Antoine de Watrigant and ridden by Ioritz Mendizabal, Aoun was winning the 2,100-metre Listed €100,000 race in Morocco for the second time running.
He was impressive too, crossing the finishing line 15 lengths clear of the second placed Djarabb Des Forges with Enigma Al Coyan a further two lengths behind in third in the 10-runner field.
HE Faisal Al Rahmani, Advisor to the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and the Director of the race series, Saeed Muhair Al Ketbi, Acting Ambassador of the UAE Embassy in the Kingdom of Morocco, and Saeed Al Muhairi, Representative of the ADSC, presented the awards to the winners.
“The 11th and penultimate race of the President of the UAE Cup reached a milestone of drawing more than 200,000 spectators in the global race series,” Al Rahmani said.
“We are delighted with the achievements of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed for both the success we celebrate in the global race series and his own horses winning the two prestigious titles at the meeting.”
