The fifth edition of the junior football festival for ages 7 and 8 concluded on successful note with the participation of 244 players at the Baniyas Academy over the weekend.
The project drew youngsters from Abu Dhabi leading clubs Al Ain, Al Jazira, Al Wahda, Al Dhafra and Baniyas, and also included Manchester City and Bayern Munich Football Academies.
The festival is a project of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) to encourage and promote the sport at grassroots levels in the Abu Dhabi emirate.
Ahmed Al Mousaabi, chairman of Technical Support Department at ADSC, provided the youngsters the pathway to develop their skills and move into the next level.
We are very thankful for Baniyas Club for hosting the festival and all the technical staff as well as parents for their support and encouragement provided for the youngsters, he said.
The youngsters certainly have benefitted not only with their football skills but in networking and sharing their experiences.
Present at the occasion were Subait Khater, former UAE international and now at the ADSC, Suhail Al Amiri, board member of Baniyas Club, Salem Al Menhali, member of Baniyas Sports Company, Abdul Latif bin Mabrouk, technical supervisor of the football school, representatives of participating academies and clubs, and parents.
