Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Organising Committee for the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.
Under the MOU, the ADSC will organise a series of community sports, promotional and marketing campaigns, and activities to support the aspirations of the organizing committee for the Special Olympics World Games.
The Games under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, will be held from March 14 to 24.
The partnership agreement was signed on Sunday by HE Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of ADSC and HE Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Director General of the Organizing Committee for the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi.
HE Al Awani said the agreement was signed in accordance with the directives of HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of ADSC and his enthusiasm to provide support and sponsorship for the event.
“We are delighted to support this global event, which reflects the leadership of the country to play an active role of promoting sports to transform lives and its values around tolerance and unity across the world,” he added.
“We are ready to welcome more than 7,500 athletes from 192 countries in one of the biggest sporting events we are going to host.”
HE Al Mazrouei, Director General of the Organizing Committee for Special Olympics Abu Dhabi reflected the values of the event.
“The partnership with the sports council reflects our values by establishing the foundations of the Special Olympics that will contribute to our mission to inspire community members and bring about positive changes to this event,” he said.
“With less than four months left, we look forward with our partners to achieve the best by hosting the Special Olympics World Games in the UAE.”
