El Hanyfy, Feghali share honours at Emirates Warriors indoor run at Yas Mall

Adil El Hanyfy and Christelle Feghali emerged winners of the 10-kilometre races for men and women, respectively, in the Emirates Warriors indoor run at the Yas Mall on Saturday.
The event was part the Abu Dhabi Sports festival organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council under the “Your health in Abu Dhabi” banner to resume community sports activities in the capital city.
Held under strict Covid-19 safety precautions, the competition drew more than 400 runners over distances of 2.5km, 5km and 10km, with the first race flagging off at 6.30am.
El Hanyfy bagged the men’s open race in a time of 34 minutes 23 seconds. The Moroccan finished ahead of Nigerian Yahaya Abiodun Odu (34.49) and Frenchman Monnot Cédric (38.34) in a field of 132 runners.
Feghali won the women’s race in a time of 48.02 from Egyptian Maya Beleidy (48.10) and Eunice Orlain (49.55) of the Philippines.
David Walsh took the men’s 5km race in a time of 18.03 from American Youssef Rochdi (18.50) and Jordanian Sameh Al Zghoul (19.38).
Jasmine Pitman (22.27) led a top three finish for Britain in the women’s 5km run. Nadine Gabrielle Hacker (22.44) and Georgina Davis (23.09) took second and third, respectively.
Fady Al Ejawey got the better of Mohammed Alhawi and Vladas Navagrudskas in the 2.5km race while Gabriel Hall won the women’s equivalent from Harriet Osgerby and Bianca Campion.
Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector ADSC, was overwhelmed by the participation of their first community indoor run since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic in March.
“We are delighted with the response from the community and success of our first indoor run in more than three months,” he said.
“This event was staged under the highest safety standards and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all participants and organisers alike.
