Friday marks the beginning of Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s (ADSC) popular Community Races for the new season.
Yas Mall stages the opening race starting at 8am. The event run in the cool climate inside the mall consists of three races over the distances of 2.5km, 5km and 10km.
Talal Al Hashemi, ADSC’s Director of Technical Affairs Department, said the community races held under the “healthy lifestyle” theme were a massive success.
“It drew large number of runners from every community at all levels and all age groups to participate,” he said.
“The final race last year drew 1,084 participants and we expect the numbers to increase this season.
“We want to thank all our sponsors and wish all the participants the best for the new season.
“Community races are not just about winning but participation and to encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle through competitions. All those finish will receive medals.”
