In March 2016, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced the launch of the Labor Cities Sports League from 1 to 29 April 2016, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones, and Abu Dhabi Media Company.
Their goals were comprised of spreading sports culture, providing an appropriate sports climate for this particular segment of workers, educating them on the importance of sports in the life of the individual in Abu Dhabi society, working to support the practice of sports on a large scale, improving workers’ physical fitness, reducing chronic diseases, and providing them with the opportunity to practice sports in their free time, as they are an integral part of society. The sports activities also aimed to enhance the bond between workers in a vibrant athletic environment.
