Active Hub attracts more than 56,000 participants from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra region
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced the Active Hub program reached a total number of 56,000 participants from all over the Emirate of Abu Dhabi since the beginning of 2023 until the end of last June with a satisfaction rate of more than 85%, based on a study by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
41% of the participants were female while 59% were male and they joined sports activities such as volleyball, basketball, football, swimming, jiu-jitsu, athletics, Zumba, and aerobics programs. 38.5% of participants were aged 6-9 years, 28.9% were between 10-13 years old, 11.1% of participants were 14-18 years old, and 21.5% of participants were 19 years old and over.
In June, 718 people of determination participated in the Active Hub activities: 429 in Abu Dhabi, 252 in Al Ain, and 37 in Al Dhafra. 54% were female and 64% were male. They participated in various sports such as basketball, football, jujitsu, and swimming.
Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “The Abu Dhabi Sports Council aims to motivate Abu Dhabi’s community members to engage in exciting sports activities to adopt an active lifestyle. We want to inspire everyone to participate in exciting sports so that they may transform their lives, ultimately contributing to the overall health and well-being of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a whole. We believe that the community is capable of building a healthy future. The role of the family is vital in amplifying the importance of sports in the lives of the younger generation, as well as emphasizing the need to lead an active lifestyle to protect them from harmful diseases,” he ended.
Talal Al-Hashemi indicated that the percentage of participants in the program increased this year compared to 2022, when there were nearly 45,000 participants.
Active Hub aims to utilize sports facilities of 20 schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra region and benefit from them after working hours: 4 times a week from 4 PM in the evening until 8 PM.
Active Hub is an initiative of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council that aims to attract participants from the community of all ages with the aim of enhancing their level of fitness, promoting an active lifestyle, and elevating mental and overall well-being. Notably, Active Hub recently won the Middle East and North Africa Stevie Award (Silver Category) this year, sponsored by the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
