Fatima Bint Mubarak Women Sports Awards reveal the final list of nominees
The Fatima Bint Mubarak Women Sports Awards jury revealed their full list of nominees, comprised of both male and female entrants, for the categories in the Awards’ eighth edition, which is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, President of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and "Mother of the Nation”, and with the support of Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Academy and President of the Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain Ladies Clubs.
The winners of the various categories will be announced on 13 November, at a ceremony to be held in the capital, Abu Dhabi.
The list provided by the jury includes the top three candidates for each category under the Awards, totaling eight for individuals and groups. The nomination process has witnessed a great registration turnout from various Arab nations since the establishment of the Awards.
Award categories:
Best Arab Women Athlete: Gymnastics star Kelia Nammour (Algeria), weightlifting champion Sarah Samir Elsayed (Egypt), and swimmer Farida Hisham Osman (Egypt).
Best Emirati Women Athlete: Ahoud Khalifa Al Ketbi, Ghala Al Hammadi, and Asma Hassan Al Hosani.
Best Youth Athlete: Latifa Mohammed Khalifa Al Falasi (UAE), Farida Mohammed Abu Hashem (Egypt), and Yasmine Ahmed Wahdan (Jordan).
Best Paralympic Athlete: Maryam Ahmed Abdullah Al Zeyoudi (UAE), Rehab Ahmed Radwan (Egypt), and Nassima Saifi (Algeria).
Best Sports Mother (introduced in the Awards’ previous 2023 edition): Ruqayya Ahmed Abdullah Al Zaabi (UAE), Siham Ahmed Mahmoud Al Qarm (Egypt), and Maysaa Mohammed Ali Hashem (Syria).
Best Female/Male Coach: Marwa Al Amri (Tunisia), Mona Zakini (Morocco), and Sarah Ashraf Mohammed (Egypt).
Best Sports Media: Naima Ali Mabrouk Sassi (Tunisia), and Nahla Nabil Bouzid Al Maghribi (Sudan).
Best Team: Zamalek Club (Egypt), Bani Yas Club (UAE), and Linda Krockenberger Club (Germany)
In each iteration of the Awards, a special award is also given by the jury to honour the Arab Sport Personality of the Year for her outstanding performance and contributions to the advancement of women's sports in the Arab world.
The Fatima Bint Mubarak Women Sports Awards, organised by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Academy, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, is the first of its kind in the region and has received wide attention in the Arab sports community. It aims to empower women and highlight their achievements in the sports sector, improve participation levels of women athletes, enhance competitiveness and excellence in women’s sports, and create a stimulating and supportive environment for women athletes to advance to the highest levels.The Fatima Bint Mubarak Women Sports Awards, organised by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Academy, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, is the first of its kind in the region and has received wide attention in the Arab sports community.
