Mohammed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa and Ahmed Bin Hamdan launch 2023 Optimist Asian & Oceanian Championship
Yesterday, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, gave the signal to launch the 2023 Optimist Asian & Oceanian Championship, organised by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, during the opening ceremony held on the breakwater in Abu Dhabi.
The opening ceremony, which included a rendition of the country's national anthem and the march of the participating teams, was attended by His Excellency Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, His Excellency Avondale Paul, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Dominica to the UAE, and the event sponsors Abu Dhabi Marine and Al Maryah Community Bank.
The club is organising the championship, which continues until 4 November, in cooperation with the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with the participation of 170 competitors from 28 countries.
