Abu Dhabi Sports Council renew partnership with Spartan for the next three editions
Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced the renewal of its partnership with Spartan, the most prominent brand for endurance and obstacle racing in the world, for the next three editions, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
This continues the great successes witnessed by the Spartan World Championship in the past two years, which were held in the Liwa Desert and Al Wathba in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
The agreement was signed at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council pavilion at the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, in the presence of His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Joe De Sena, founder and CEO of Spartan, to enhance and continue the important achievements that the World Spartan Championship was able to embody at the local and global levels, with the participation of thousands of participants over the past two editions.
HE Al Awani, emphasised the role of the partnership and its important position in developing joint work and promoting hosting of the Spartan World Championship, one of the most prominent global championships held in Abu Dhabi.
He expressed his great keenness to continue the partnership with Spartan to achieve more in endurance and obstacle crossing sports.
“Since its inception, the Spartan World Championship has contributed to encouraging a large number of community members to adopt a healthy lifestyle, by providing them with the opportunity to participate alongside an elite group of international champions, and allocating distances appropriate to their abilities,” HE Al Awani said.
“The tournament also contributed to introducing participants to various parts of the world with its desert nature, amazing geographical terrain, enormous infrastructure, and the ability to host major international sporting events.”
De Sena, added: “We are happy to continue the established and distinguished relationship that brings us together with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, after the successes we have achieved together.
“We work hand in hand to provide distinctive races and an unforgettable experience for all fans of obstacle racing, endurance racing and crossing obstacles, supported by the amazing successes of the last two editions.”
The 2021 edition, which was held for the first time outside the United States of America, in the Middle East, achieved great successes, with the participation of more than 4,500 male and female contestants, from more than 50 countries from all over the world, The activities were organised in the Liwa Desert (Tel Mureb) in the Al Dhafra region.
As for the 2022 edition, it was held in the Al Wathba desert and attracted more than 5,000 male and female competitors from 75 countries.
