TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR FIBA 3x3 WORLD TOUR ABU DHABI FINAL
Abu Dhabi Sports Council continues its thriving relationship with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as it announces the return of FIBA 3x3 World Tour on December 10-11, with tickets now on sale.
And this time – it’s the competition Finale…
Twelve of the greatest 3x3 teams on the planet will descend on the capital this winter, as they battle for the World Tour title at Yas Bay’s iconic waterfront. The final arrives after the conclusion of 11 city-based tournaments across the globe; with teams vying for vital points to proceed to the latter stage of the World Tour.
A dedicated, custom-built arena and surrounding Fan Zone will welcome basketball fans and families alike, with plenty to experience off the court as much as there is on, including: food trucks/stalls; live music; art activations; player’s warm-up area; merchandise and more. And if that wasn’t enough, the event will once again feature the popular slam dunk contest, shoot-out competition and basketball acrobats, Face Team.
Abu Dhabi has been a pioneer in the 3x3 sphere. Not only did the capital organise the return of FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters last year, but it has also played host to the tournament’s Finals in both 2015 and 2016. And with the tournament coming back, this once again emphasises the capabilities of Abu Dhabi and its leadership in hosting international sporting events and providing basketball fans – both old and new – the opportunity to watch the best players in the world, live in action, right here in the capital.
His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “We are pleased to host the FIBA 3X3 World Tour final once again in Abu Dhabi in cooperation with the International Basketball Federation. Furthermore, to be hosting the final for the first time since 2016 shows our commitment of bringing the best sporting events to the country, and how the capital is fully prepared to host such a prestigious sporting occasion.
“For years now we have been dedicated to growing the love of 3x3 here in Abu Dhabi,” continued His Excellency. “As our relationship continues to grow with FIBA, we are confident that the success of the tournament will support this growth. I would like to wish the 12 competing teams the best of luck, alongside the winner of our community event winners from the 3x3 Community Basketball Championship.
Abu Dhabi Sports Council once again shows this commitment to growing the game, by once again including the Abu Dhabi community tournament – The 3x3 Community Basketball Championship. Local teams from across the UAE have been invited to bring their talent to a host of courts across the capital from November 4th.
Talking ahead of the Finals, Head of Events and Partnerships of FIBA, Ignacio Soriano said: “We are delighted to be returning to Abu Dhabi once again with the greatest 3x3 athletes in the world – including Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medalists - , and this year is even more thrilling as it’s where we will crown out champion team – it’s the Final!
“As our relationship continues to flourish with ADSC, we are also encouraged by their efforts to grow the game of 3x3 across the capital with the community league, ending at the World Tour Final stage,” added Soriano. “This scenario will be very inspirational for the future generations of 3x3 players, and we can’t wait to see what talent Abu Dhabi has on its own doorstep.”
The Abu Dhabi 3x3 World Tour Final has a prize purse of US$375,000, but we are sure these elite athletes will be focused on podium glory.
