MOVE UNITED

Overview

Move United is an accelerator programme for the ‘Universal access to Inclusive Sports Programmes’ initiative led by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, under the Universal Access pillar in the Abu Dhabi Strategy for People of Determination (POD). The programme is in line with the Sports for All policy launched by the Department of Community Development.

It ensures the inclusion of POD with various disabilities, along with their families, into community sports, fostering social inclusion and improving their quality of life.

Move United is designed to foster POD participation in inclusive community sports by offering a series of training sessions tailored for individuals with various disabilities and their families, inclusive community events, and building capacity for inclusive sport coaches specialized in training People of Determination.

Move United kicks off with a six-month pilot in Abu Dhabi and will expand to include Al Ain and Al Dhafra in its second phase.

Eligible to participate

All People of Determination with various disabilities, their families and friends can participate in the event. However, registration is required in advance.

Vision

To empower People of Determination and their families to participate in community sports activities on an equal basis with others to achieve social inclusion and equitable opportunities for all in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Objectives

Strengthen Abu Dhabi’s standing as a global leader in empowering People of Determination through inclusive community sports.

Achieve social inclusion and participation of People of Determination in sports through inclusive running and cycling as a first stage and expand to collective type sports in later stages of the programme.
