In December 2022, it was announced that Abu Dhabi would host the World Padel Tour Modon Abu Dhabi Master 2023, in a press conference attended by representatives from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, Modon Properties, World Paddle Tour, and GMOL.
The tournament was held from 21 to 26 February 2023 at Bab Al Nujoom on Al Hudayriat Island in Abu Dhabi.
128 male and female players competed, with total cash prizes worth EUR 450,000 up for grabs. It marked the grand opening of the World Padel Tour season agenda.
The internet live broadcast achieved an unprecedented number of more than 1,700,000 views from more than 367,000 viewers.
10,000 spectators attended the championship matches.
Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Padel Tennis Federation, crowned the Spaniards Arturo Coello Manso and Agustín Tapia with the championship title.
Paula Josemaría Martín and her teammate Ariana Sanchez Fallada won the women’s championship title by defeating Gemma Triay Pons and Alejandra Salazar Bengoechea in the final.
Arturo Coello Manso was awarded the MVP title in the men's category, while Ariana Sanchez Fallada earned the same in the women's.
Emirates Post Group also launched two commemorative stamps featuring a beautiful design depicting Padel players, to celebrate the success of the community tournament that was held before the Masters Championship.
