Delegation from Abu Dhabi Heritage Sailing Races and Kingfish Championships Visits Doha Marine Sports Club

A delegation from the Committee for the Organisation of Traditional Sailing Races and Kingfish Championships in Abu Dhabi visited the Doha Marine Sports Club, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise between both sides in the field of marine sports and the organisation of kingfish fishing championships.

The delegation was welcomed by Fahad Al Jaber, General Manager of Doha Marine Sports Club, and Mohammed Al Manna, Public Relations Officer at the club, who both expressed their appreciation for the visit and emphasised the importance of such exchanges in strengthening fraternal relations and enhancing sports partnerships between the two sides.

The delegation included Saeed Khalifa Al Mehairi, Director of Community Sports Department at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, along with Ali Salmeen, Salah Al Marzouqi, and Khalifa Al Hosani from Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in addition to Khalifa Rashid Al Romaithi from Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.

The visit aimed to explore best practices and organisational experiences related to traditional sailing races and marine fishing activities, including the exchange of expertise in organising kingfish fishing championships and their accompanying events.

The meeting featured discussions on several important topics, most notably the future of kingfish fishing championships, modern fishing techniques used in the sport, as well as a review of Qatari marine activities and championships. Both sides also explored opportunities for joint cooperation in organising marine events and championships, and exchanging technical and organisational expertise.

An invitation was also extended to Doha Marine Sports Club to participate in the upcoming Abu Dhabi Championship, in a step that reflects both sides’ commitment to strengthening marine sports cooperation and developing joint Gulf championships, contributing to the advancement of marine sports and kingfish fishing championships across the region.

At the conclusion of the visit, commemorative shields were exchanged between the Committee for the Organisation of Traditional Sailing Races and Kingfish Championships in Abu Dhabi and Doha Marine Sports Club, in appreciation of the distinguished relations between the two parties and as a reaffirmation of continued future cooperation and coordination.
